Figure 6 Frequency responses of (a) four nominally identical optical fibre hydrophones and (b) PVDF needle and membrane hydrophones. Non uniformities in the response of the probe type hydrophones (optical fibre & needle) are due to frequency dependent effects arising from diffraction of the incident acoustic wave around the edge of the fibre.
